BACKGROUND INFORMATION

It takes place in the year 3235. The main characters are between 10 and 17 years old. It is AU; a mix of several Sonic verses (Sega Sonic and SatAM mainly, with a few elements of Archie, Fleetway, Sonic X… and a there were a few attributes taken from other fanfiction writers; three from NetRaptor, (Knuckles working in Robotropolis, Knuckles helping build Metal Sonic, and the name “Robo Knuckles”), two from Captain Chaotica (Knuckles’s real name in KatC is a modified version of her version of it, and the basis for Mighty’s family was inspired by her), and the basic characterization of Metal Sonic and Robo Knuckles was developed by several writers, NetRaptor, MS2, Echidna-Hazard, MetallixFaker, and myself.
Knuckles’s original personality was partially inspired by Orin’s version of him. It’s been heavily modified since then; but I thought I should add that in. Tylec Asroc, Metara, Echidna-Hazard and S. P. Davis are other inspirations. These are all minor; but worth mentioning. The rest is my creation.

The genre… well, that’s a little difficult. Action/Adventure/Drama/Science Fiction… some Tragedy, Romance, Humour. It’s a little bit of everything. The main characters, obviously, are Knuckles and the Chaotix. The series was started in December 2001, but has gone through major revision since then… multiple times.

THEOLOGY

There is one God, named Lumien, who created the planet Mobius. He has children; (the Demi-God(/esses); (From oldest to youngest) Allumiena, Obscurity, Bane, Cesian, Bryana. Cael is the name of the heavens. Lumien became disgusted with Mobius, and turned away from it. Allumiena and Obscurity are exed (The demi-god/ess equivalent of death) Bryana sometimes deals with Mobian affairs – mainly the Elder Council of the Elite Guardians. They answer to her. Cesian deals with deaths – judges the souls of the deceased and send them to matching places. (Not Cael, however) Bane does nothing except cause trouble. Obscurity’s descendants with mobian women are called the demons.

TERMS

Demons: The descendants of Obscurity. He had many children with mobian women, and they continued to – and wrecked havoc. 98% of demons are destructive and violent – there are very few peaceful ones. They are black; with eyes (usually red) that lack pupils and irises. Big leathery wings, large dangerous claws. Some can assume a mobian shape – always a chameleon. Usually black, or dark coloured. Dangerous and blood-thirsty.

Experiment:  An experiment of Doctor Robotnik, but only experimented upon by scientists working under him. Each has a number. There are 1000+

Project: An experiment with promising DNA, that is sent to Doctor Robotnik, examined, and if deemed worthy, upgraded to a Project. Doctor Robotnik experiments on them personally. His goal is to make them a biological weapon. They are given a project name (Ie: Project Phase) and retain their experiment number as well as their project name. They have a red Eggman insignia branded on their body. There are 52.

Eggman’s Own: Successful Projects. They are the biological weapons of Doctor Robotnik. They retain their project name and their experiment number. They have a black Eggman insignia branded on their body. There are 6.

The Insanity: A side-effect of experimentation done by Doctor Robotnik. Named by projects/Eggman’s Own themselves. A powerful insanity that could turn the Project/Eggman’s Own homicidal or suicidal.

Chaos: A powerful form of energy, very powerful, very hard to control. Mainly destructive.

Magic: A powerful form of chaos energy, not as powerful, but easier to control, can be melded into ‘spells’.

Chasi: People who can use chaos. Ie: Sonic, Knuckles.

Magi: People who can use magic. Ie: Tails, Az

Magae: People who know enough magic, and are skilled enough in it to have an apprentice.

Mage: People who are masters of magic.

Elite Guardians: Guardians who guard entities that affect the world, and possibly more. They are not actually elite; it was simply them being conceited by thinking what they guarded was more important than other things being guarded. All Elite Guardians must be magi, and must be sixteen or older, and willing. (There are a few exceptions to the age rule; depending on how desperate the situation is) (Example: Az is the Elite Guardian of the Void) Guardians don’t have to be related, but usually are due to magic in the veins.

Elder Council: Wise elders who orchestrate the Elite Guardians.

Guardians (Sometimes called Lesser Guardians by arrogant people): Guardians who continue the tradition by bloodline, but by selection. They are not actually lesser in any way, it was simply the Elite Guardians being conceited and declaring it so, mainly due to bitterness and arrogance. (Example: Knuckles is the Guardian of the Floating Island…. and the Master Emerald)

Chaos Channeler: Someone who can channel the power of the Chaos Emeralds (The only people who can do so – the only exception being Chaos), and even without touching them, if they are proficient enough to do so. There are only three in existence; they are Sonic, Shadow, and Metal Sonic to an extent. (Note: Chaos Emeralds can power machinery, that’s the only other thing they can do, so Metal can as a partial channeler and machinery.)

Blood Bind: A technique only available to those in the Korel bloodline. If a Korel is bleeding, they must angle their wrist in a very specific manner, and flick specks of blood over the enemy. If done correctly, the specks will land on the vital parts of the enemy’s body. Then, the Korel must concentrate, and inject Chaos Energy into those spots. If done correctly, it will kill a normal mobian.

Demon’s Eye: A technique only available to those in the Korel bloodline. When used, and the Guardian looks someone in the eye – they will be frozen with terror. Needs special circumstances to active it. Powerful illusion.

Blood Limit: A technique only available to those in the Korel family. Effects are unknown; but they are known to be powerful.

Illusion: A form of hypnosis; done usually by eye contact; meant to immobilize and/or hinder the victim. Usually invokes upsetting thoughts/memories/hallucinations.

Anti-Crossbreed Organization: A group of extremist racists who believe killing hybrids/crossbreeds is the right thing to do, and goes around doing such.

Zarakai: Old Mobian. Loosely translates to ‘Monster’. Someone who has done terrible things to attain power – and destroyed their soul in the process.

Chiya mica: Old Mobian. Very insulting way of saying 'little girl'

Year 1900 – The echidna population on the Floating Island finishes rebuilding, other species start to come, crocodiles settle in the place that will be later known as Hydrocity. Technology starts advancing.

Year 2000 – The first gun is made.

Year 2550 – The first Chaos energy harnessing weapon is created, most nations go to war over it, thus beginning the fifty year war. Some of the countries brought Chaos Energies, and as the fight drew closer to the weapon, someone triggered it. The power was unimaginable, it wiped out nearly the entire populace – but, somehow, only the people died. The environment was left untouched. There were a few hundred survivors. The Chaos Emeralds scattered again.

Year 2800 – The planet finishes rebuilding the population, starting from scratch with their technology. Chaos and strife begin to spread amongst the people, and then a leader who will later found a monarchy – Mathus Acorn, comes to power. He is a just leader, and most of the people adore him.

Year 2827 – On the Floating Island, two brothers, Dimitri and Edmund, begin making the Chaos Siphon, a device that will use the power of a Super Emerald and the Master Emerald to bring the Island back down to the ground. They do it in the Mount Ezekial.

Year 2830 – As the Chaos Siphon nears completion, there is an explosion, a failure, and it basically becomes very unstable and dangerous – Edmund, along with the council of Echidnaopolis, agree to shut it down, but Dimitri is adamant, he goes down to finish it himself – but it backfires, and all the power from the Siphon (but not the Emeralds) goes into him, and he goes insane with power. Edmund, with the help of the fireants, manages to get the emeralds out of the way, and trap Enerjak in Mount Ezekial with a blood seal. Mount Ezekial then becomes known as Mount Doom. Edmund dies after completing the seal.

Year 2835 – Dimitri’s son, Menniker, founds the Dark Legion. He battles Steppenwolf, Edmund’s son, who traps him and the Dark Legion in the Forbidden Zone. Some legionnaires manage to avoid it, however, unbeknownst to Steppenwolf.

Year 3000 – The first robot is made (on Mobius Prime, that is). It is very primitive, however.

Year 3100 – Humans come from another planet and settle, start to colonize the place. There are already existing humans, so they band together, and have an uneasy alliance with the Mobians.

Year 3214 – The Great War begins, between Mobians and Humans.

Year 3217 – Antoine D’Coolette is born, Dr. Julian Ivo Kintobor (Later to be known as Dr. Robotnik) defects to the side of the Mobians.

Year 3218 –

January 5^th – Vector Steward Midelain (Later to be known as Vector the Crocodile) is born.

July 3^rd – Bunnie Rabbit (Later to be known as Bunnie Rabbot) is born.

October 31^st - Ethan Tarrun Brooks (Later to be known as Espio the Chameleon) is born.

December 1^st – Robert Elias (Later to be known as Rotor the Walrus) is born.

Year 3219 -

April 18^th – Scott Azure Cyana (Later to be known as Sonic the Hedgehog) is born.

May 4^th – Anashi Naku Korel (Later to be known as Knuckles the Echidna) is born.

June 13^th – Sharmurai Edgar the Fifth (Later to be known as Charmy Bee) is born.

August 31^st – Princess Sally Alicia Acorn is born.

September 1^st – Dr. Kintobor is promoted to Minister of Science.

Year 3220 - 

February 4^th – In the final battle of the Great, General Jules Cyana dies, and because of his valiance, courage, and etc, the Mobians win the Great War.

March 12^th – Project Shortcake is born.

October 20^th – Michael Zacharius Bélanger (Later to be known as Mighty the Armadillo) is born.

November 8^th – Azaelin Nymphadora Tarrun Supaya (Later to be known as Az Spyre) is born.

Year 3222 -

January 17^th – Ray Christopher Anderson (Later to be known as Ray the Flying Squirrel) is born.

January 29^th – Dr. Martin Rose and Dr. Julian Ivo Kintobor begin collaborating on a project that will revolutionize modern medicine – the Medicbots.

May 27^th – Amy Rose is born.

Year 3223 -

March 19^th – Sir Charles Cyana, with some help from Dr. Julian Ivo Kintobor begins working on a project that will allow older people to live longer, the roboticizer.

Year 3224 -

May 6^th – When Sir Charles Cyana goes to test the roboticizer, something goes horribly wrong. The test subject becomes full robot and loses its free will. Sir Charles Cyana is imprisoned. Unbeknownst to him, Dr. Kintobor had tinkered with it, caused it to do that, thus framing him.

June 6^th – The trial is held, and Sir Charles is found to be innocent. He is released. As soon as he is out, he destroys all research and work on the roboticizer.

Year 3225 -

January 11^th – Dr. Martin Rose and his daughter Melissa visit Dr. Kintobor for dinner, Melissa, distrustful, wanders around, and then discovers Dr. Kintobor’s illegal experimentations on Mobians. She shows her father, and they are both horrified – Dr. Kintobor finds them, kills Dr. Martin Rose, and Melissa, traumatized for life, narrowly escapes.

January 16^th – Dr. Martin Rose’s funeral.

March 1^st – The Hill Top Wars.

April 13^th – One of the most famous dates in history – Dr. Julian Ivo Kintobor’s coup. He takes over Mobitropolis, kills the King, and has the population roboticized. Very few escape. He then renames himself to Dr. Robotnik and sets up his citadel in Mobitropolis, renaming it to Robotropolis.

June 5^th – Miles “Tails” Prower is born.

July 23^rd  – Eliza Leanna Korel is born.

Year 3227 –

July 31^st – The Korel family (Minus Locke, and the children) are murdered viciously; later it is confirmed that the murderer was Locke himself.

Year 3228 – The Demon Chameleon begins its reign of terror, torturing and killing people. This lasts for three years.

Year 3229 –

September 18^th - Doctor Robotnik, gaining power all the time, seizes a good chunk of Eastern Mobius; he starts setting up slave labour camps to mine for power and other sources of energy. Anyone under the age of twenty are put into these camps; there are two categories, one for males, and one for females.

Year 3230 –

January 22^nd – Doctor Robotnik tracks Shadow to Aquacity, and blackmails him into working for him. Shadow agrees; they create a blood oath, Shadow goes to work for him.

February 4^th – Three youngsters are captured and brought in to Dr. Robotnik’s slave camps.

May 13^th – There is a mix-up, and a female, is sent into the all-male camp.

September 8^th – Shadow agrees to take care of a half-dead little boy.

Year 3231 –

April 30^th – The Demon Chameleon’s reign of terror stops mysteriously. 513 deaths in total.

Year 3232 –

The first freedom fighter group is formed; led by Melissa Rose, also containing Sonic the Hedgehog, Amy Rose – and temporarily, Mighty the Armadillo, as well as some others.

Year 3234 –

January  – Sometime in the first two weeks of the month, Project Shortcake escapes. Exact date is not known.

March 10^th – The first Freedom Fight group (save two who were absent at the time) are all annihilated.

March 11^th – Sonic the Hedgehog, one of the two survivors, swears revenge and attacks Doctor Robotnik, sabotaging his smaller bases. Eventually they have a showdown, Sonic narrowly wins. (Sonic 1 adapt)

March 23^rd – Doctor Robotnik starts working on two projects – a Sonic robot, and a superweapon – the Death Egg.

August 7^th – Sonic the Hedgehog gets wind of this new development, tracks Doctor Robotnik to South Island. Miles “Tails” Prower follows him, and they begin thwarting his plans. (Sonic 2 adapt)

September 8^th  – Silver Sonic is completed, Doctor Robotnik gives him the position of general. He is to oversee conquest.

September 9^th  – Silver Sonic learns of Sonic, and, considering himself perfection, cannot wrap his head around the concept that is a clone of an inferior organic. He goes insane and murders all the people he was supposed to roboticize – Sonic arrives too late. Tails is the only survivor. Sonic does not have the heart to tell Tails his parents are dead.

September 10^th – Sonic’s showdown with Silver Sonic, followed by Sonic’s showdown with Doctor Robotnik. Sonic wins, and the Death Egg crashes… into the Floating Island. Doctor Robotnik meets Knuckles the Echidna. Doctor Robotnik tricks Knuckles into believing that Sonic is a dangerous terrorist (and Sonic doesn’t help any with his behavior and attitude). Sonic and Knuckles get into several fights. Knuckles and Doctor Robotnik begin to work on a robot who will protect the Island and match Sonic’s speed – Metal Sonic. (Sonic 3 and Knuckles adapt)

September 23rd – Metal Sonic is completed. Doctor Robotnik reprograms and revamps him as best he can, but he finds he cannot erase the “protect” programming. Instead, he puts layers and layers of “Kill” and “Destroy” programming on top of it. While Knuckles is distracted with Sonic and Tails, Doctor Robotnik plans to steal the Master Emerald, tracking them.

September 24^th – Sonic and Knuckles showdown in the Hidden Palace. Halfway through their fight, Doctor Robotnik steals the Master Emerald. Knuckles attacks him and tries to stop him, but Doctor Robotnik electrocutes him and escapes. Knuckles, takes Sonic to the Sky Sanctuary, and Sonic reaches the Death Egg. Metal Sonic and Knuckles showdown. Doctor Robotnik and Super Sonic do as well. Knuckles narrowly wins, Super Sonic wins, the Death Egg is obliterated, and the Master Emerald returned. Doctor Robotnik retrieves and repairs Metal Sonic.

October 23^rd – Metal Sonic’s repairs are completed. He sets his sights on Little Planet, which will appear in two days – which, coincidentally, is the day of the month Sonic visits Amy Rose. (Sonic CD adapt)

October 25^th – Doctor Robotnik travels to the home of Amy Rose’s grandparents. He shoots them, takes Amy, and heads to Little Planet. He goes back in time to take over the planet, and uses Amy, the last surviving Rose member, to access the rest of Martin Rose’s research. Sonic arrives, heads to Little Planet, and begins work on reversing the damage. Metal Sonic is Amy’s jailer. Over the course of two weeks, she talks with him, interacts with him, and slowly he learns him how to think for himself, how to feel; and how to love.

November 8^th – Sonic and Metal Sonic have their showdown race in Stardust Speedway. Metal Sonic purposely loses the race and is destroyed. Amy is devastated. Sonic faces off with Doctor Robotnik, and wins. Tails returns from a short trip and speaks of Freedom Fighters – a group of teenagers fighting against Doctor Robotnik. Sonic, Tails, and Amy seek them out.

December 20^th – They find the Freedom Fighters – led by Sally Acorn. Their initiation begins.

December 23^rd - Espio appears on the Floating Island – followed by a robot attack. Espio helps Mighty fend them off; and Mighty pleads for Knuckles to allow Espio to stay on the island. Reluctantly, after much persuasion, Knuckles agrees – Espio’s initiation begins.

December 30^th – Initiation ends; they are all accepted. They work on thwarting Doctor Robotnik whenever they can, from their base in Knothole.

Year 3235 –

January 2^nd – Espio’s initiation ends, he is accepted.

January 30^th – The Kingdom of North Mobius, after negotiation and much talk, send the crowned prince, Sharmurai Edgar the Fifth (Also known as Charmy Bee), to the Floating Island, to act as an ambassador. Charmy is delighted to see people his own age, and spends as much time as he can with them.

February 21^st- After helping out enough, and proving himself, Knuckles initiates Charmy.

March 19^th – Vector comes asking for help for a major problem in Hydrocity. The four help him out – and in turn he helps out with other problems around the island. He asks to be let onto the team, and his initiation begins.

March 29^th – Vector’s initiation ends, he is accepted. The team receives a name, the Chaotix – the helper Guardians of the Floating Island.

April 11^th – Metal Sonic’s repairs finally end, as they were done between other priorities and projects.  

June 5^th – Doctor Robotnik sets his sights on the Floating Island. He begins preparing Metal Sonic for the invasion – and builds a new machine, the Combi Catcher.

June 25^th – Doctor Robotnik sends a message to Knuckles, offering to give him the power he needs to kill Locke in exchange for Knuckles working under him, and doing terrible, terrible things. Espio finds out, and is appalled upon hearing, urging Knuckles not to do it. Knuckles does not answer either Robotnik or Espio.

June 26^th – The attack against the Floating Island begins, orchestrated by Metal Sonic. He traps the Chaotix in the Combi Catcher – which is a virtual reality machine. Knuckles goes in himself, to try and get them out. (Knuckles Chaotix adapt)

July 1^st – The Combi Catcher is destroyed, and Mighty showdowns with Metal Sonic. KatC begins.
